Vice leads charge for Golden Globes 2019

Vice 1

The shortlist for the 76th Golden Globes saw strong showings for political drama Vice, which leads the way with six nominations, while regal black comedy The Favourite, comedy drama Green Book and musical A Star Is Born were close behind with five nominations each.
Meanwhile The Assassination Of Gianni Versace led the race for the TV nominations with five, with a host of shows close behind on four including The Americans, Barry, Homecoming, The Kominsky Method, The Marvellous Miss Maisel, Sharp Objects and A Very English Scandal.
It was also great news for British talent with the likes of Christian Bale (Vice) Rosamund Pike (A Private War), Rachel Weisz ()The Favourite), Olivia Colman (The Favourite), Emily Blunt (Mary Poppins Returns), Richard E Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me), and Claire Foy (First Man) all up for awards.
Equally on the small screen, performances from Richard Madden (Bodyguard), Matthew Rhys (The Americans), Sacha Baron Cohen (Who Is America?), Benedict Cumberbatch (Patrick Melrose), Hugh Grant (A Very English Scandal), Ben Whishaw (A Very English Scandal) and Thandie Newton (Westworld) were all recognised.
Other notable mentions should include Bradley Cooper being nominated as both performer and director (in his debut) in A Star Is Born, while co star Lady Gaga was also nominated.
Constance Wu, meanwhile, was also recognised for her role in Crazy Rich Asians – the first Asian woman to be nominated in 44 years. For what it's worth, some of our personal film picks would be BlackKklansman, Green Book, Crazy Rich Asians, Rami Malek, Olivia Colman, John C Reilly, Rachel Weisz and pretty much all the male supporting roles!

The 76th Golden Globes will be held on 6th January 2019, and will be hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg.
