1917 in commanding position at top of UK Chart

1917 2

Wartime epic 1917 continued its imperious UK box office success with a second week at the top.

The First World War epic, which is directed by Sam Mendes, took a further £6.1m to take its overall tally to £18.4m in just two weeks.

Second spot went to new entry Bad Boys For Life, the third, somewhat belated, film in the trilogy starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, which took £3.7m on debut.

Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women slipped down to fourth, with Guy Ritchie caper The Gentlemen relaxing in fourth and Jumanji: The Next Level rooted in fifth.

Star Wars definitely lost some of the force this week, stumbling to sixth, while new entry, the critically acclaimed Bombshell starring Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie, opened in seventh with £742k.

Taika Waititi comedy drama Jojo Rabbit burrows down in eighth, with Jamie Foxx and Michael B Jordan’s latest drama, Just Mercy, debuting in ninth with £529k and animated sequel Frozen II rounding out the top ten.
