Aquaman blows UK rivals out of the water
DC superhero adventure Aquaman swam straight to the top of the UK Box Office in its opening week.
The movie, which stars Jason Momoa and Amber Heard, took £5.2m in its opening week, and just held off Marvel superhero Spider-Man with his animated adventure Into The Spider-Verse, which took £2.2m on debut.
That left The Grinch cursing his luck down in third, having taken £21.6m in six weeks, while Ralph Breaks The Internet crashed, falling to fourth.
Peter Jackson’s Mortal Engines spluttered to life with just £1.2m in its first week, while Michael B Jordan’s Creed II ducked and dived to sixth, and JK Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts sequel, The Crimes Of Grindelwald continued to mesmerise audiences in seventh.
Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody continued to rock audiences in eighth, with climbing documentary Free Solo and Event Cinema’s Met Opera La Traviata 18/19 completing the top ten.
