Belief in Tenet draws UK audiences
After a pretty non-existent box office for the past six months, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet sought to set things right.
The time-based thriller, starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, took £5.3m on debut, as the movie industry breathed a collective sigh of relief.
The rest of the chart was pretty thin on the ground with Disney animation Onward still in the charts since March, bagging second with a lowly £185k.
Animation 100% Wolf sat in third, with Russell Crowe crazy-fest Unhinged down to fourth.
The Pinocchio live-action retelling took fifth, while longstanding chart dweller Trolls World Tour, featuring Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick, lay in sixth.
A couple of newcomers in the form of Bill Nighy’s drama Hope Gap and BTS’s Bring The Soul in seventh and eighth, while animation Dreambuilders and rerelease Dirty Dancing complete the top ten.
