Dolittle does plenty at UK Box Office

Dolittle 1

Despite some mixed reviews, Robert Downey Jr’s Dolittle galloped straight to the top of the UK Chart.

The reboot, which sees the animal-friendly physician journey to a mystery island, took £5m on debut, almost double that of the latest DC Superhero movie, Birds Of Prey.

The latter, which sees Margot Robbie reprise her role as Harley Quinn, opened with £2.8m, pushing former number one, 1917, into third.

Fourth spot also went to a newcomer, in the form of acclaimed Korean movie and four-time Oscar-winner Parasite, which took £1.3m on opening week.

Will Smith’s Bad Boys For Life dipped to fifth, with Armando Iannucci’s adaptation, The Personal History Of David Copperfield down to sixth.

Event Cinema’s Kinky Boots opened in seventh with £503k, with Jumanji sequel The Next Level, Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen and Greta Gerwig’s Little Women completing the top ten.
