Downton Abbey lords it over UK rivals to top chart
Downton Abbey saw hordes of people throng through its doors on its opening weekend to top the UK Chart.
The new release, which charts the life of the Earl Of Grantham and his aristocratic entourage with Hugh Bonneville in the lead role, took a healthy £5.1m.
That left Pennywise the clown somewhat down in the dumps after It: Chapter Two slumped to second.
Another new entry fronted by Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu saw Hustlers chart in third with £1.3m, with Quentin Tarantino’s latest, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood slipping to fourth.
Disney epic The Lion King continued to do a roaring trade in fifth, with Gerard Butler’s Angel Has Fallen descending to sixth.
Secret Cinema’s Casino Royale continued to thrill in, appropriately enough, seventh, with stalwarts Dora And The Lost City Of Gold, Toy Story 4 and Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw completing the top ten.
