Eternals’ Jolie good UK opening

Marvel’s latest foray onto the Silver Screen, Eternals, topped the chart on debut.

The film, which stars Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek & Richard Madden among others, took £5.4m in its opening weekend, pushing Bond down into second spot.

007’s latest entry, directed by Cary Fukunaga, slipped to second, despite having taken £89.8m in its six weeks.

Denis Villeneuve’s visually stunning Dune, which stars Timothy Chalamet & Rebecca Ferguson, dropped to third, while Tom Hardy’s latest incarnation of Venom, Let There Be Carnage, moved to fourth.

Comedy animation The Boss Baby 2 featuring the voice of Alec Baldwin, remained steady in fifth, with newcomer Spencer, featuring an incredible performance by Kristen Steward as Princess Diana, debuting in sixth with £492k. The Addams Family continued to benefit from Halloween vibes in seventh, with Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, animation Ron’s Gone Wrong and Edgar Wright chiller Last Night In Soho completing the top ten.
