Ghostbusters revamp Afterlife took top spot in the UK Box Office on debut.

The film, directed by Jason Reitman and starring Grace Mckenna and Paul Rudd, captured an impressive haul of £4.3m, pushing previous incumbent, Marvel’s Eternals, into second.

Bond was still hanging around licking his wounds in third, edging closer to £100m domestically, while Dune drifted along in fourth.

Newcomer King Richard, featuring a powerful turn from Will Smith as Serena & Venus Williams’ dad, opened in fifth with £570k, with The Boss Baby 2 slipping to sixth.

Elsewhere award potential Spencer, featuring Kristen Stewart, descended the throne to seventh, with Tom Hardy’s loathsome leech Venom in eighth.

Animations Ron’s Gone Wrong and The Addams Family 2 complete the top ten, while newcomer and critics’ favourite Petite Maman debuted in 12th.
