Onward & upward as Pixar’s latest tops UK

Pixar & Disney celebrated another number one, as their latest Onward shot straight to the top of the UK Chart.

The film, which features Tom Holland and Chris Pratt as two elves who have the chance to reconnect with their deceased father, took £3.4m on debut, overtaking The Invisible Man like he wasn’t there.

Third place also went to a new entry in feel-good film Military Wives, starring Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan as the sonorous spouses, which opened with £968k, with Sonic The Hedgehog and Parasite coming in a tired fourth and fifth respectively.

Mark Ruffalo’s angry green man, corporate lawyer Rob Bilott, sees Dark Waters sink to sixth, with Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island reboot debuting in seventh with £392k.

Robert Downey Jr’s family-friendly fare Dolittle dips to eighth, while new entry Riverdance 25thAnniversary Show opens in ninth with £313k, with Jane Austen adaptation Emma completing the top ten.
