Snowballs all round as Frozen II triumphs again in the US
There was snow let up for the Disney juggernaut, as Frozen II remained on top of the US summit.
The sequel to the 2013 smash, starring Idina Menzel, Josh Gad and Kristen Bell, took a further $85.9m taking its domestic tally to $288.8m, and holding off the challenge of murder mystery thriller Knives Out.
The Daniel Craig starrer, directed by Rian Johnson, took $26.7m on debut, with the Matt Damon and Christian Bale vehicle Ford vs Ferrari slipping down to third.
Fourth place saw new entry Queen & Slim, starring Daniel Kaluuya, opening with $11.8m, with Tom Hanks’ Fred Rogers’ bio A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood dipping to fifth.
Elsewhere Chadwick Boseman’s crime drama 21 Bridges fell to sixth, while John Cena’s family comedy Playing With Fire continued its slow burn in seventh, and WWII drama Midway nosedived to eighth.
Emilia Clarke festive rom-com Last Christmas slipped over in ninth, with Joaquin Phoenix’s acclaimed Joker still hanging around in the top ten after nine weeks in the chart and amassing a whopping $330m domestically.
