The Conjuring sequel appears in US top spot

As if by magic, the latest in The Conjuring series hit the number one spot in the US Box Office this week.
The film, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, which once again stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, opened with $24m on debut as cinemas look to get back on track.
That meant John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place Part II slipped down to second, despite a respectable $19.5m in its second week, taking its overall tally to $88.6m domestically.
Disney prequel Cruella, starring Emma Stone and Emma Thompson, moved to third, with new entry Spirit: Untamed featuring the vocal talents of Jake Gyllenhaal, opened with $6.2m.
Elsewhere Disney animation Raya And The Last Dragon slumbered in fifth, while Guy Ritchie’s Wrath Of Man, starring Jason Statham, lay low in sixth.
The latest Saw movie, Spiral, sowed seeds of fear in seventh, with mega-monster mash-up Godzilla vs Kong fast approaching $100m, animation Demon Slayer and Welsh equine feel good film Dream Horse starring Toni Collette completing the top ten.
