The Lion King reasserts its authority in the UK
Disney’s live action CGI fest The Lion King roared back to life to reclaim the UK Box Office crown from Hobbs & Shaw.
The reboot, which stars Donald Glover & Seth Rogen, bagged another £4.3m to take its domestic tally to just shy of £60m, with the Fast & Furious spinoff starring Jason Statham & Dwayne Johnson scooping £2.9m.
Third spot went to franchise favourite Toy Story 4, while fourth spot went to the Springsteen-inspired new entry Blinded By The Light, which garnered £966k on debut.
Spider-Man: Far From Home was left dangling in fifth, while sequel The Angry Birds Movie 2 fell down to sixth.
New entry Playmobil, featuring Daniel Radcliffe, opened in seventh with £376k, with Danny Boyle’s Yesterday, Secret Cinema’s Casino Royale and BTS new entry Bring The Soul: The Movie completing the top ten.
