Wartime drama 1917 marches to top of UK Chart
The critically acclaimed 1917 flew straight to the top of the UK Chart on debut.
The First World War drama, directed by Sam Mendes and starring George MacKay, opened with £7.4m, knocking previous incumbent Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker down into third, with Greta Gerwig’s Little Women adaptation climbing to second.
That left Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen humbled in fourth, with Dwayne Johnson’s Jumanji: The Next Level moving down to fifth.
Taika Waititi’s World War 2 comedy Jojo Rabbit hopped down to sixth, with Disney musical Frozen II still hitting the right notes in seventh.
Elsewhere Will Smith animation Spies In Disguise, feline musical Cats, and Rian Jonhson’s comedy caper Knives Out complete the top ten.
