US film fans Marvel at superhero flick Eternals
As expected, Marvel’s latest movie Eternals shot straight to the top of the US Box Office.
The film, which stars Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan and Salma Hayek, took a sizable $70m on its opening weekend, blowing the epic Dune off its perch.
The sumptuous sci-fi from Denis Villeneuve slipped to second, with Bond further down the pecking order in third, having amassed an impressive $143m domestically so far.
Elsewhere Tom Hardy’s sarcastic symbiote Venom slipped to fourth, with comedy animation Ron’s Gone Wrong in fifth.
Wes Anderson’s latest slice of whimsy The French Dispatch sat in sixth, with former top dog Halloween Kills running out of steam in seventh.
Kristen Stewart’s impressive turn in Spencer saw it enter the chart in eighth with $2m, while horrors Antlers and Edgar Wright’s Last Night In Soho completing the chart.
